In 1954, Buford C. Smith graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He began his first career as a Public Accountant and received his CPA license in 1989.

Refusing to stop there, Buford went on to graduate from the United States Army Command and General Staff College, where he retired in 1977 as a Lt. Colonel.

In 1971, Buford began his third career to form the Buford C. Smith Co., Inc., a company that continues to grow today. Starting as a one-man operation in downtown Knoxville, the business has grown into an 18,000 square foot warehouse in the Old City section of town.

The business began with the sale and distribution of packaging and shipping supplies. Over the years it has grown to provide a comprehensive array of quality products including a superior line of janitorial equipment and supplies, in addition to an enhanced offering of moving supplies, packaging and shipping materials.

Continuing to grow, the Buford C. Smith Co., Inc. has expanded operations into Florida and Texas. Today, with a staff of 15 talented and dedicated employees, the company is ready to provide the friendly service, bright ideas and quality products our customers have come to expect.
